Wellness CFE

Eurest team celebrating their Wellness CFE designation

Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America became Eurest’s first certified Wellness Center for Excellence in January 2019 – just five months after their CFE recertification. The Centers for Excellence program recognizes accounts across the U.S. in nearly every sector that offer a superlative dining experience for our guests and clients. The Wellness Centers for Excellence pilot program is a fairly new addition which certifies CFE accounts who provide robust wellness programs and do so successfully.

The certification standards have seven focus areas: menu development, marketing and promotions, associate engagement, choice architecture, leadership, training and retail. The client’s goal was to create a wellness-focused destination for guests, and they succeeded.

“We go through a case of bibb lettuce every week now. We didn’t bring it in before, except for catering.” – Scott Vandenbroecke, District Chef

Solution

The team promoted wellness programs each month to show their commitment to employee wellbeing. They also responded to customer demand with innovative stations such as a deconstructed bento box station with nuts, cheese, fruits, veggies, and crackers so customers could build their own snack/meal box. On the last Tuesday of every month, customers are introduced to new, healthy items which have garnered a lot of positive feedback. The on-site fitness center collaboration allowed the team to cross-promote events in each area of the worksite and provided a mutually beneficial partnership in regards to wellness programming.

The team has integrated fully with the client’s culture of health and wellness by following these best practices:

  • Successfully coordinating health & wellness programming with the client by holding regular meetings to help keep them on track to successfully implement employee wellness programs.
  • Establishing an integrated reporting structure to ensure a streamlined approach for employee wellness programming.
  • Leveraging a local Eurest Dietitian to support ongoing programming.
  • Showing a 13% increase in Balance meals sold from 2017 to 2018.

About 84% of respondents stated that the combination of the on-site cafes, fitness center and wellness offerings make it easy to achieve a healthy lifestyle. When respondents were asked what they would like to see added to the cafe menus to increase the wellness focus, 32% stated no changes needed while an equal number requested more FIT options.
