Hear from their colleagues about the difference #CompassRDNs are making:
"I would like to recognize Ben Sizemore, the lead RD at Prince William Medical Center.
Ben goes above and beyond for our patients, team members and students. It`s not unusual to catch him assisting in training our kitchen staff, coordinating care on a complicated patient with the ICU team and following through on a service recovery to make sure a patient`s tray is just right all in the same day. On top of this, Ben continually advanced his nutrition knowledge through attending webinars, reading the latest research articles and staying up to date on newest practice guidelines. The value he provides to the team is irreplicable and we`re lucky to have him on our team." – Kara Carter, RD

"I would like to recognize Victoria Brown, RDN, at St Vincent Riverside in Jacksonville, Florida. In the beginning of February, we launched MyDining here, and also implemented a new IDDSI menu. Victoria was on the trayline helping us review all IDDSI trays. She helped tremendously during the MyDining implementation and continues to be an integral part of IDDSI training and knowledge. Victoria is a new RDN who just passed her exam. Congratulations, and happy first official RDN Day, Victoria, and we appreciate all you do for our patients!" – Vanessa Vlcek, TouchPoint, Customer Experience Manager

"Our Food and Nutrition team would like to recognize Lynne Fasanella, MFT, MS, RDN
Assistant Director Clinical & Patient Services. Lynne is the assistant director of clinical and patient services at both Raritan Bay Medical Center and Old Bridge Medical Center in New Jersey. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lynne had increased responsibilities, however; she took the position of Regional Director at Morrison Healthcare without hesitation. Despite having additional roles, Lynne continues to work closely with her team and constantly pushes her dietitians to grow within the nutrition field each and every day. She continues to maintain an open-door policy and listen to us when it comes to anything that we need. We want to recognize Lynne because she continues to stay positive and flexible, constantly setting an example for RD`s and dietetic interns alike. She is not only our manager, but a colleague, mentor and friend. Thank you Lynne for everything that you do!" -Patricia Kolesa, MS, RDN, Clinical Dietitian, Food and Nutrition, Old Bridge Medical Center

Anna deserves every recognition that exists! She is such a compassionate, encouraging, smart leader. Throughout COVID her direction and leadership for our department has kept us going operationally and clinically. She is truly the backbone for Food and Nutrition at our hospital and we appreciate her guidance + expertise more than she knows. #RDNDay #CompassRDNs
With the change in our census and taking care of more higher acuity patients, more critically ill patients, Pat has jumped in without being asked. Taking it upon herself up to date on critical guidelines and nutrition support protocols so that she can help with the patient load has been instrumental to our clinical nutrition department providing optimal care! Along with this, Pat navigated telehealth to maintain continuity for her outpatients. #RDNDay #CompassRDNs
Although Jennifer is on the Nutrition & Wellness team, all of Envision Group knows she is a member who makes things happen! Besides her regular responsibilities, she is always ready to jump in and assist with other projects. This past year she worked tirelessly to help pivot to a Virtual Wellness hub-the WeEatLiveDoWell website- even volunteering her own sons as instructors in the For Kids, By Kids Teaching Kitchen @home series. She continues to be a source of innovation and inspiration as we move into our GoodFood4U, precision nutrition pilots. #RDNDay #CompassRDNs

Our clinical team has worked tireless through the pandemic and the many changes that occurred as a result. The clinical team pulled together to ensure that patients were still being taken care of nutritional as optimally as possible with limitations in our face-to-face interactions. The team stayed abreast of new nutritional recommendations for ICU COVID-19 patients and informed the healthcare team appropriately to help those on the vent recover. The clinical team also worked with the rest of the food service department to make sure coverage for call-ins were covered and that nutritional supplements and enteral feeds were still arriving as needed. Through this, the clinical team didn`t miss a beat and remained strong and resilient in the face of hardship. As a result, there has been an improvement in the clinical team`s relationships with both food service staff and the healthcare team along with improved communication between everyone. We could not be more proud of our team and what we have accomplished during this unprecedented time! #RDNDay #CompassRDNs
Cecelia has been very flexible over the past several years stepping in to provide clinical coverage in a variety of areas including long-term care, acute and outpatient. She does an exceptional job in all clinical settings. She also, just recently, assisted us with a major chart audit project where her assistance was requested on short notice. Thank you, Cecelia, for your commitment to the success of Morrison Healthcare! #RDNDay #CompassRDNs
Kendra Hayes has been instrumental in moving the hospital’s outpatient nutrition program forward. Following her diligent efforts, she was able to secure additional FTEs, reduce the no snow rate and increase total patient visits. She also assists other accounts in care optimization by serving as a co-host for the Cerner discussion group. #RDNDay #CompassRDNs

Other clinical staff contributed to the content, Katherine created the slide show “Don’t Panic in the Pandemic” and provided a voice-over recording of the presentation that was posted on the NAMI KDK website in October of 2020. Katherine’s presentation included a number of topics including daily routine, emotional eating, boredom eating, healthy snack options, mindful eating, exercise, protecting mental health, food safety and a resource for free or discounted meals. #RDNDay
