Mocktails: A Trendy Cocktail Alternative

A major trend has begun sweeping the country, with many people enjoying a zero-proof twist on their beverages.  Some are even exploring a “Dry January” after a very festive holiday season. Although, omitting alcohol doesn’t mean omitting flavor or fun.  Enter, the mocktail.

A mocktail is a delicious, zero-proof drink option. You can now find mocktails on many restaurant menus and they’re easy to make right at home.  Whether or not you enjoy alcohol, this is a great option to integrate into your next get-together.

My favorite mocktail recipes help hydrate the body, supply vitamins and antioxidants and provide flavorful and aromatic accents. I recently held a “mocktail hour” at the Levy offices and received great feedback from the team.  Many were surprised by how simple the recipes can be to put together, and how interesting the flavor profiles were. I encourage you to experiment with different flavors, juices, and seltzers to find the perfect recipe for you.

My favorite recipes typically consist of: sparkling water, 100% fruit or vegetable juice, citrus and fresh herbs.  I usually avoid adding sugars or artificial sweeteners, and focus on the ingredient’s natural flavor and sweetness.

Here are three of my favorite go-to mocktail recipes.  Hope you enjoy!
